Are you unhappy about your week?

Friday is finally here and we are in full swing of the last quarter of the year. In fact, it is actually the last quarter of the decade! Can you believe that? I remember like it was yesterday when it was 2010, and I just completed my first year of graduate school to pursue my doctorate in physical therapy. Time really does fly!

It is so amazing to look back over the years and see how worrisome scenarios (confrontation at work, stress, relationship issues, etc.) can seem like such a small blip in the grand scheme of things. If you feel like you are in the thick of it right now when it comes to stress, just remember that things will work out. A way to help cope with all the stresses that come your way is to identify the ‘Bright Spots’ that have occurred this week. A ‘bright spot’ is a small or big win that happened over the past 7 days that gives you the opportunity to say “yeah, that was great!” 

When we can spot these wins at the end of the week it helps us understand that we are heading in the right direction towards whatever we are trying to achieve. This is what helps us stay motivated, because motivation is a very finite resource. But it can be regenerated by spotting out those successes all along the way.

So if you’ve had a bad week, I want you to take a moment and identify one good thing that happened to you over the past 7 days.
