HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING IN OUR COMMUNITY!

Do you follow the rule of 3?

Losing weight is a simple equation: eat less than what you burn, strength train regularly, and get enough sleep. But why is it so hard to achieve this goal? Why do so many of us jump from program to program? Some may say that workout programs and diet plans are ineffective, but the truth is that consistency is often lacking. Stick with any program long enough and you will most likely see some sort of change.

However, with programs that boast dedication to 2 hours of working out per day, cutting out carbs, and spending countless dollars on supplements, it can be very difficult to keep up with a program long enough to truly experience the benefits. That intensity of change is often unable to sustain, resulting in people ‘falling off the wagon’, quitting because it didn’t work, or that it was ‘just too hard/boring’.

As humans, we have a problem with trying to be “perfect”. Society tells us that everything should be done completely, which sets unrealistic expectations on ourselves. But the reality is that all you need is to modify the intensity and shoot for “better” than just perfection. So how do we do this? Just like any sort of plan, expectations and metrics should be set. Here at Hudson River Fitness, we go by the rule of three which is:

  1. Workout at least 3x per week (moderate to high intensity exercise), but if you can’t do that, just moving around will suffice

  2. Shoot for at least 1 serving of vegetables at each meal, equalling at least 3 servings of vegetables per day

  3. Three minutes of quiet time where you are avoiding screens and external stimuli. Enjoy the silence

These three action steps with specific metrics are going to be the key to not only completing your fitness goals, but this will also lead to long term success. Once you’re able to master these three basics, you can then move onto the more advanced and intense steps to help you achieve more.

Over the past 3 months, have you been able to follow these three rules?
