Over the years I’ve come across articles touting very strange modalities and treatments for nerve pain: supplements, apple cider vinegar, ultrasound… But do they actually work? Maybe. If you come across research articles about specific treatments, there may be 1 or 2 people in the sample group that did benefit, but compared to the rest of the group, it may not have been effective at all. So we need to look at treatment modalities with a careful eye, but ultimately comparing its effectiveness with how you feel. You can search for any specific modality and the research behind it by searching: sciatica, modality (of your choice) and the letters “NCBI”. You’ll find the research to support or refute it.
Regardless of modality, treating pain is a scientific process starting with an educated guess. Let your symptoms and progress be your guide in picking which one actually works for you.
