What is nerve flossing?
Your nerves may be sticky.
Why this matters:
If you injure a body part, you’ll experience inflammation. The same goes when you have nerve irritation. As that tissue heals, there will be a development of adhesions, also known as a sticky nerve. This is just a normal part of the process. The nerve floss is a great way to unstick the sciatic nerve so that it can move freely throughout the body. Here are some things to consider when implementing nerve flossing: 1) ensure that you have exhausted all options of motion at the spine and hip; 2) A little goes a long way, you don’t need to do a ton of flossing to get the benefits; 3) if it hurts/increases your pain, stop it.
Action steps:This video explains and shows you how to properly floss the sciatic nerve. Most programs will have you really stretch the nerve to get benefit. But you don’t need to do that. Gentle motion is key. Again, a little goes a long way and you don’t need to overdo it.
