Why it matters: The pain you feel is protective. It will stop you from participating in the activities that increase your suffering. The human mind can overcome these cues and still carry on with destructive behaviors. Look into your day and investigate what activities increase your pain. Then ask yourself “how can I modify or eliminate this activity from my day?”
Example: You had a recent flare up, and it gets worse when you’re driving to work. You can’t NOT drive to work. What hand do you drive with? What if you switched hands? What if you switched your sitting position? Can you think of any other changes?
If you can modify or eliminate an activity, your pain will subside.
