A missing core exercise

You can strengthen your core using just your arms.

Why this matters:

A common core exercise is the plank. I’m a huge fan of it as it is supposed to build up the stability of your core. But most of the time, this is done on the ground/table. It can be a lot of work to get up and down. So what can we do instead? The banded straight arm pulldown is a great movement to add into your routine that can build up your core strength but add in a component of “dynamic stability”.

This means that your core can stabilize while other parts of your body are moving. This is the next step in your recovery.

Action steps:

Check out this video on how to do it. All you need is a band and an anchor point. I recommend 3 to 5 sets of 10 to 20 repetitions. If done correctly, you’ll feel your abs and arms, but i a good way.
