You aren’t in this alone

We are a week into the last quarter of the year. Can you believe how quickly time flies?

This is the time of the year when people start to say to themselves, “maybe next year will be different. Why is this the case? Often times the start of the year brings about investments in high intensity changes, which include extreme diets, workout programs, and other behaviors that are unsustainable for longer periods of time.

At 6 months into the year, a large portion of those who set out a health and fitness goal have already abandoned them due to “life happens”, “it didn’t work for me”, or “I just gave up”. What most of these people may have in common is that they pursued their goal by themselves. As a result, they didn’t have a support system to help them through tough times or hold them accountable them to adhere to a consistent program.

Research has shown that provided with the right supervision and support, adherence can improve their level of health and fitness.  So what does that mean for us?

That means that you aren’t alone in the journey to optimal health and fitness. Making changes to your lifestyle, adding in workouts, eating vegetables doesn’t have to be a solo mission. If you look at the most successful companies, it isn’t a one person show. It is an amalgamation of like minded individuals who are working towards the same vision and mission of a business. Why can’t you have that in your life in the pursuit of optimal health?

There are some folks out there who can carry out a fitness program all by themselves. And that is great. However, there are many others out there who need that support to guide them through the noise out on the internet. It’s so hard to figure out what the best program is because there really is no best program. The best program for you may not work for someone else. But with that being said, it doesn’t mean that you have to go through this fitness journey by yourself.

So if you are looking to get started on a new program before the new year, find a support system that will carry you every step of the way. Here are a couple ways for you to just that:

  1. Make your goals known. Post it on social media and tag @hudsonriverfitness so we can cheer you on! Also, tell all your friends and family to see if they are up to supporting you with your goals. If they say no…. Are they really your friends?

  2. Plan for the worst situation. Working late? Kid sick? Work through these scenarios with your support team. That’s what they’re there for.

  3. Hire a coach. If you have no idea what you’re doing, or need a change of pace, having a coach who can walk you through every single step of the process will be crucial to your success. Book a free intro with one of our coaches here.

  4. Celebrate with your support group when you accomplish your goal.

  5. Identify the next set of goals you want to achieve, repeat steps 1-4!
