HERE'S WHAT'S HAPPENING IN OUR COMMUNITY!

3 Minute Read: I ate an entire pie by myself…

You read the subject heading right, I did eat an entire boysenbery pie by myself this weekend. The good news is that it was one of those “personal sized” pies, so I didn’t feel as bad when finishing it. This week we’re talkin all about nutrition and food. If you have some sort of body composition or health goal, your eating habits play a very large role in this journey.

The science says that you can’t out-exercise a poor diet. However, with so many articles about the various diets out there, it’s quite challenging to figure out the right pathway for you. The good news is that the team at Hudson River Fitness can help you every step of the way. This week we’re focusing on specific action steps to take control of your eating. We’ll cover everything from portion control, recipes, meal prep, and the “weekend eating”. So don’t fret, if you follow the action steps over the next few days, you’ll be in a much better position.

Healthy eating is simple. However, staying consistent isn’t easy. The reason is that unlike working out where we can feel the immediate effects, nutrition behavioral changes take time. That in itself can be frustrating, leading us to spending money on various supplements, metabolic accelerators, and fat loss teas. Stick to the basic principles we’re laying out this week and you’ll be surprised about your progress!

Today’s focus is on portion control. We could go into the super detailed macro breakdown (9 calories per gram of fat, 4 per gram of carb and protein); but there are also many challenges to that type of recording. Here’s what you should follow today: If you want to lose weight, eat a little less (think 15% less); and if you want to gain weight, eat a little more (think 15% more).

Keep this in mind today and throughout the week and let us know how you feel.

If you really need help, book a free call with our nutrition coach Amber. She has her masters in nutrition and will be finishing her credentials to be a Registered Dietitian. This means that she’ll be at the highest level in her field.

Have an awesome day!
