A tree broke and fell on our garage last week.
Luckily no one was hurt.
The most common cause for a tree falling is that the trunk is unable to handle the loads and stresses placed by the branches and leaves.
We need to have a solid foundation so that we can handle the stresses/demands that are placed upon us. The foundations of optimal health include movement, nutrition, and stress management.
Without them we are just like this tree. It would only be a matter of time until we break under all our stress.
Here are three major action steps to optimal health.
1) Move well and move often. It can be anything from lifting weights regularly or just get up and move. Accumulate at least 30 minutes of movement per day.
2) Eat mostly vegetables and lean proteins. Carbs were never the enemy.
3) Find an outlet for your stress that does not involve alcohol or food. You can start by setting boundaries that allow you to recover day after day.
You can do all the stretches and therapeutic exercises in the world, but if the foundation isn’t set properly, you’re running the risk of falling over, or worse.
